About Yvette

Yvette Jenkins believes that the best stories introduce us to characters who stay with us long after we've turned the final page. She has been an avid reader for as long as she can remember and still loves the feeling of being completely caught up in a story.

There is something particularly magical about an adult and child sharing a book together. Stories do more than entertain – they help us understand other people, build empathy and create connections.

The Little Boat and the Wide, Wide Sea is her debut as a children's author, although the idea behind it began more than twenty years before it finally found its way into print.

Before becoming an author, Yvette worked as an occupational therapist in the NHS, a career centred around people, their individual stories.

Yvette lives in South Yorkshire with her partner, Ian, and their two Chihuahuas, Bosley and Lexi. When she isn't writing, she can usually be found with her head in a book or tending to her ever-growing collection of bonsai trees.
